Comparing two EVs side by side means looking past the headline range number. Two vehicles with similar range can have very different battery sizes, efficiency ratings, and real-world winter performance, and the one that costs less to charge isn’t always the one with the bigger number on the spec sheet. This tool pulls current Natural Resources Canada ratings for range, efficiency, and recharge time for any two EVs sold in Canada, then estimates battery size, winter range, and annual electricity cost from those same figures so you can weigh the full picture, not just one stat, before deciding which fits how you actually drive.

• Range and efficiency figures are NRCan estimates under 5-cycle test conditions. Recharge time is as reported by NRCan and may not specify charger level. For plug-in hybrids, combined efficiency is converted from NRCan’s litre-equivalent rating using their published factor of 8.9 kWh per litre, and gas-only figures reflect driving after the battery is depleted. EVs typically see 20 to 40 percent less range in cold weather; actual loss varies by vehicle based on things like heat pump availability and battery thermal management, which isn’t captured in the ratings above.
• Estimated electricity cost assumes home charging only at the selected province’s typical residential rate, and for plug-in hybrids reflects electric-mode driving only, not a blend with gas-only miles.
